The Design and Implementation of a Secure Datastore Based on Ethereum Smart Contract

In this paper, we present a secure datastore based on an Ethereum smart contract. Our research is guided by three questions. First, will explore to what extend smart-contract-based should resemble traditional database system. Second, investigate how store the data in for maximum flexibility while minimizing gas consumption. Third, seek answers regarding whether or not incorporate complex processing such as encryption and analytic algorithms. The proposed aims strike good balance between several constraints: (1) contracts are publicly visible, which may create confidentiality concern stored datastore; (2) unlike systems, contract programming language (i.e., Solidity) offers very limited structures management; (3) all operations that mutate blockchain state would incur financial costs developers must make sure sufficient provisioned every call, ideally, consumption be minimized. investigation shows although it essential offer some basic query functionality, impractical resembles of Furthermore, propose structured tag-value pairs, where tag serves non-unique key describes nature value. We also conclude allowed due burden security concerns. tag-based designed way defines its applicative perimeter, i.e., only applications align with our strategy find fit.
